Join us for our spring book study of Patrick S. Cheng's "From Sin to Amazing Grace: Discovering the Queer Christ." Running through June (Pride Month), this timely study invites us to explore a transformative understanding of sin and grace.
Many queer individuals have experienced deep harm from church teachings that dehumanized their bodies and identities as sinful. In this enlightening study, Cheng shifts the focus away from a criminalized view of sin toward embracing God's grace for all people.
You don't need to identify as queer to benefit from this study. We all stand in need of healing from the crippling burden of chronic shame that the church has evoked through its traditional understanding of salvation, with its emphasis on human fallenness and divine judgment. Cheng offers a Christological model that reframes our relationship with God through Christ's redemptive love, providing a healing theology relevant to everyone.
The study explores seven paradigms of grace that can help us experience God's love more fully. Our journey together will culminate during Pride Month, creating space for reflection, healing, and celebration of God's inclusive love.
